WHAT IS
DROP-IN CHILDCARE?
Drop-In childcare is for those days when you need a little extra childcare help. There is no regular weekly schedule; it's just childcare when you need it, for the amount of time you need, with an experienced, loving, and trustworthy provider.

- No minimum on hours, and no recurring schedule required
- I bill in 15 minute increments, so if you only need 2 or 3 hours of childcare, you don't need to pay for a full day
- Last minute requests can often be accommodated.
- Small, mixed-age group of kiddos (maximum of 5 children, including my own)
- Loving, experienced, and attentive caregiver
- Beautiful, well-equipped, and safe play spaces, both indoors and outdoors
- Private nap spaces (pack & plays provided) with video monitoring
- Nourishing snacks provided
- We have a 5 year old golden retriever who is extremely friendly and good with kids - he has spent his entire life surrounded by small children
Laurel has cared for our daughter and another toddler as part of a nanny share since our daughter was 13 months old [until age 5, with their second child joining the mix 2 years in]. Laurel has been a true gift to our family. Our daughter absolutely adores her. She is not only highly responsible, reliable, and trustworthy, but does so much to nurture the development of both kiddos. Laurel makes it a priority to get outside and explore nature with the kids. She is extremely warm, kind, and patient. Her breadth of experience and thoughtfulness make her a master at managing even the most challenging toddler behaviors with respect and love. The more notice you can give me, the more likely I am to be available; but you are always welcome to check in, even for last-minute requests! If I have the capacity and availability, I'm happy to take last-minute drop-ins.

My maximum capacity is 5 kids total. This includes my own 2 kiddos, who are usually home with me.
how far is mountain laurel playcare from portland?
I am located in Troutdale, just off I-84. I'm approximately 25 minutes from NE Portland, 25-40 minutes from inner SE Portland, and 20-25 minutes from outer SE Portland.
I'm also only 10 minutes from downtown Gresham, Fairview, Wood Village, and Corbett; 20-25 minutes from Sandy; and 25-30 from Happy Valley.
When and how do I pay?
Payment for drop-in care is due when you pick up your child. You are welcome to pay with cash, check, Venmo, Paypal, or Zelle. Checks can be made out to Mountain Laurel PlayCare.
does my child have to be potty trained?
Nope! I work with plenty of infants and toddlers who are still in diapers. Diapers and wipes are even included at no extra cost!
will i be locked in to a contract?
Nope! There is an Agreement I'll have you read through and sign before beginning care, but there is no requirement for ongoing care involved in it.
what ages do you accept?
I'm happy to care for children from 6 weeks to approximately 7 years. Older kids are welcome, especially with a younger sibling, but the space and activities are generally designed for littler kiddos.
